How to Quench Desert Dry Skin

    By The Indie Mag | Article | 0 comment | 19 August, 2017 | 5

Has your skin ever felt so dry here in Las Vegas it feels like you have a clay mask on? Well I have and it is not exactly my favorite feeling. Plus it also adds wrinkles, so to hell with that. I have enough issues being a 34 year old woman and dry wrinkled skin will not be one of them. Furthermore spending $100 on skin cream is not my idea of a good time either. You could always go to a certified dermatologist in Las Vegas such as Luxdermatology, as Dr. Robert Leposavic does some amazing things for younger skin. However most options I would opt for come with all kinds of sneaky bad ingredients that some skin care lines smuggle into their creams. So what can a gal or guy do to fight the dry desert heat sucking the moisture right out of your face? Well her are some all natural, over the counter of your local grocery store items to help restore some hydration to that beautiful mug.

skin hydration tips for desert living

If you love to take baths we have some good news for you! Add a tablespoon of coconut or olive oil to your bath for some miracle skin hydration. You can also rub a little more on after you get out of the tub. This is one of my go to’s for hydration other than coconut oil which is probably my favorite, would be this homemade scrub.

                             Olive Oil

        Honey

       Korse Salt or Sea Salt

                                                                            Optional a squeeze of lemon

    Honey salt olive oil scrub

Mix these ingredients together and scrub onto your face. Make sure your face is makeup free before you do this. Then just rinse and gently pat dry. Your face will feel like a baby’s bottom. Flax seed oil is also a wonderful one to use. Alcohol free aloe vera or better yet fresh from the plant helps your skin absorb the hydration from the oil better and lock it in. Retinol is anther face cream staple in my box of skin care tools. Buy a pure retinol cream and use it in combination with the other tips. Your skin will plump up and feel so hydrated. You can also use the retinol cream for your bum as it is great for cellulite as well, but we will delve more into that subject another time.

    Benefits of Aloe Vera:

It contains antioxidant vitamins A, C and E — plus vitamin B12, folic acid and choline.

    Which helps fight aging

    Soothes Rashes and Skin Irritations

    Reduce Acne and Infection

    It can Lighten Blemishes

You can also use it on your hair and scalp to help hair growth and dandruff

    Coconut Oil Facts

It has antimicrobial properties and moisturizing abilities, which makes it great for cleaning your face and skin.

Coconut oil offers protection from sunburn

    It helps prevent premature aging

    It’s hypoallergenic

You can get it at the grocery store!!
